Description:As you arrive in the first area from the entrance you see this notice hanging on the wall - the Code of Good Conduct. It reads as follows:

Public Shelters are provided for the use of members of the public caught in the open at the time of a raid.

Persons within easy reach of their homes who have a shelter should not use a public shelter.

These shelters having been provided at public expense for public use, every user is earnestly required to co-operate with the authorities in the preservation and good useage of that which has been provided for the general safety.

Persons using a public shelter must not:
(1) Obstruct the free use of the shelter by others.
(2) Use obscene language or do any indecent act.
(3) Sing or shout or play any instrument to the annoyance or disturbance of others.
(4) Take a dog or other animal into the shelter.
(5) Leave litter in the shelter. There is a refuse bin which should be properly used.
(6) Take into a shelter any article of furniture or vehicle likely to cause obstruction or annoyance to the other occupants. (There is no objection to blankets, cushions etc but personal property brought in must be removed on leaving)
(7) Smoke. It is essential to keep the air as pure as possible.
(8) Use a public shelter if suffering from any infectious disease, or residing in a house where this is any other person so suffering.
(9) Enter or be in a shelter in an intoxicated condition.
(10) Behave in a manner likely to annoy, or be a nuisance to other occupants of the shelter.

Persons are reminded that disorderly conduct of any kind will render the offenders liable to prosecution. Complaints (if any) should be made without delay to a Warden or Police Officer.
During the Winter months shelters will be opened at dusk and closed at 7:30 am.
