Date:2nd of May 1957

Description:On 2nd May 1957 H.M. The Queen Mother visited the new blocks of flats built between Great Colmore Street, Grant Street and Wynn Street. These blocks - Avon, Lansdowne and Nash - are still known locally as the "Y Blocks", a reference to their shape.

Also in the photograph are the Lord Mayor Ernest Apps (left), Dorothy Blackford, David Blackford and Janet Abbotts - who is the dark haired lady looking up from the lower balcony.
