Description:The remains of St Thomas' Church, Bath Row, Lee Bank. The building was designed by Rickman and Hutchinson and built in 1826/29. Pevsner admires the west front, but describes as 'odd' the ball and cross at the top of the tower. This, however, has since disappeared. After bomb damage in World War II the west front and tower were preserved, and in 1955 the surroundings were landscaped to commemorate the Queen's coronation. This photograph probably dates from around this time, but more recently the area has been re-designed as the Peace Garden.
Behind the church can be seen the old St Thomas' School.
