Description:This newspaper report from the Handsworth Herald details a meeting of the 'militant' suffragettes. By 1913 the Suffragette movement had split into two main bodies. The Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) were known as the Militant Suffragettes because of their 'terrorist' tactics. Amongst their leaders were Christabel and Emmeline Pankhurst. Sylvia Pankhurst became a leader of ....... a movement which linked issues of Women's Suffrage with wider social issues of the time, for example striking workers.
