Description:Notebook of William Salt Brassington , titled "Some notes on the study of Shakespeare" in the 19th century March 1901.
MS 1639/8.
William Salt Brassington (1859-1939) was C hief Librarian and Curator of the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre, Stratford upon Avon. He wrote the book "Shakespeare's Homeland" in 1903.
In this notebook, his aim is to collect and summarise the research , texts, criticism and editions of others "works of [Shakespeare] the Master of Genius".
Shakespeare above all is poet of love, and the greatest exponent of duty. He holds a mirror up to nature and as long as the English language lasts, I do not hesitate to say his words will be read and admired. As he himself has said;
"Yet do thy worst, old Time, despite thy wrong,
My love shall in my verse ever live young".
