Description:Correspondence from Felix Mendelssohn in connection with the Birmingham Triennial Music Festival. Elijah, an oratorio written by Mendelssohn, was commissioned specifically for the Birmingham Triennial Music Festival in 1846, where it received its premiere. Mendelssohn died just one year after its premiere but it is believed to have been performed at each Music Festival since 1846.
