Description:St Alban's Church, Conybere Street, began as a small mission established in 1865 by the Pollock brothers, who were Anglican priests. The brothers were attacked in 1867 for their high-church rituals, but stayed for twenty-five years serving the heavily populated district and were known for their remarkable pastoral work. The splendid new building was opened in 1881 and remains a landmark today visible for miles.
