Description:Article taken from the Birmingham Gazette. Text reads as follows:
"Presentation of a silver tea service to the retiring Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Birmingham Alderman and Mrs J. Crump was made in the Council Chamber yesterday by Alderman E. Martineau (left)who took the place of Alderman J.H. Lloyd, Father of the Council, who was unable to attend owing to a cold. Alderman Martineau pointed out that Alderman Crump and himself had one thing in common. They had each begun their year of office as Lord Mayor in peace, and ended it in war. Replying, Alderman Crump expressed the wish that Councillor T.B. Pritchett (right) would end his year of office in peace, having begun it in wartime. Second on left is Alderman Byng Kenrick".

James Crump was a native of Ladywood, living for many years in Great Colmore Street.
