Description:These notes were written as Britain approached declaring war on Germany in September 1939. 28th August Several members of the staff arrived at school at 7:15am for the rehearsals of evacuation of children from the three departments of the school. School was dismissed at 3pm to enable teachers to make new registers for evacuation with the new classes. There was no registration today. 31st August A notice was sent today for evacuation tomorrow 1st September. Children who were not being evacuated were instructed not to return until further notice. Children to be evacuated were to return to school at 1pm.
