Description:Portrait of Mr T.M. Colmore, J.P., Stipendiary Magistrate for Birmingham. Thomas Milnes Colmore was born in 1845 and, after being educated at Rugby School and Brasenose College, Oxford, he was called to the Bar in 1869. He joined the Midland Circuit and the Warwickshire and Birmingham Sessions and became Recorder of Warwick in 1882, after which he served as Stipendiary Magistrate for the borough of Birmingham from 1888 to 1905. A biographical notice of 1889 remarks that 'he has already given abundant proof that he has discharged, and will no doubt continue to do so, the important duties of his high office with scrupulous care and impartiality, with unquestioned conscientiousness, and with the single aim of doing even-handed justice to all those ... who have to appear before him...' Subsequently, from 1907, he was Deputy Chairman of the Warwickshire Quarter Sessions. He died on 25 April 1916.
