Description:The Station Inn, 373 Monument Road, Ladywood, at the junction with Cope Street (on the left). At the bottom right of the picture is the start of the now-vanished Shakespeare Road. At this point Monument Road has just crossed the canal and the railway line, and the station referred to is Monument Lane Station. Former Ladywood resident P. Wolfenden recalls using the station up until the mid nineteen fifties. Next to the station were two railwaymen's cottages for the use of employees. The section of Monument Road seen here is now part of Ladywood Middleway.
