Description:James Phillips was a tripe dealer at number 81 Cregoe Street who specialised in "faggots and peas". During the war, faggots and peas were not rationed and often people would have it as a meal. The queue would go into the backyard (above) and people would be let into the shop four at a time. What made James' faggots so appealing though? Well Dolly reckons it was the secret ingredient - Jamaican pepper! Sitting on his knee is his grandson John Ray.
