Description:This is a list of questions to be asked when interviewing candidates for a position at Soho House which was then the home of Matthew Robinson Boulton, the son of the industrialist Matthew Boulton. 1. In what places have they previously lived 2. Period of time in which they have been in their former places. 3. What did the former Establishment consist of e.g. was he the only servant or had he assistance was he in or out of livery. Was he employed to do any part of the Marketing. of what did the family consist. 4. Is he now out of service & if so how long since he quitted his last place 5. Reasons for leaving it. 6. What were his wages in his last situation & what clothes or livery was allowed him. 7. Is the Butler qualified to take charge of the Brewing 8. The age & is he married or single 9. Does the Butler understand the duties of a Gentleman's own man ie such as laying out his clothes & brushing them & taking care generally of his wardrobe & shoes 10. The old clothes not to be expected as his prerequisite 11. General opinion of his competency & ?temper of his ?appearance & manner
