Description:"Ruby Turner , born in Montego Bay, Jamaica and moved to Birmingham in 1967. She recorded her first single, 'Every Soul', for a local label, before being offered a contract with Jive Records. In 1987 she made her debut LP called 'Women Hold Up Half The Sky', this featured four UK hits, 'If You're Ready (Come Go With Me)', 'I'm In Love', 'Bye Baby' and 'I'd Rather Go Blind'. Turner has continued a successful career as a singer and as an actress in programmes such as BBC's 'Eastenders'. 'I would later work with Ruby Turner in my capacity as Series Editor for 'Drumbeat' a multicultural series for Carlton TV'." Pogus Caesar, February 2003.
