Description:The original Red Lion was an old coaching house and was granted its first license in 1542, in the reign of Henry VIII. The "new" Red Lion Was built on the same site.During the Civil War, Oliver Cromwell's army used the Inn to stable horses and provide rest for the men. The Red Lion was part of the Ansell's Brewery chain.
