Description:The Methodist Church was opened in 1872 and was another grand and imposing building with seating for over 1000 people together with a Sunday School building in Lime Grove from 1886. The Church has always been the centre for much activity and in 1898 became the head of a large circuit from which various daughter churches sprang. Unfortunately the original building was destroyed by bombing in 1940 but a modern building has taken its place. The foundation stones for this were laid in 1949, One of those involved in the ceremony was Miss Moon who was then aged 91 and one of the church's original members.
