Description:Leopold Amery was Mp for Birmingham South from 1911 and MP for Sparkbrook from its breakup until 1945. He was First Lord of the Admiralty from 1922-24 and minister for various colonies after that.
He supported independence for the colonies and was one of the strongest opponents of appeasement in the late 30s.
Although his mother was jewish, his son John was a strong supporter of the Nazis and tried to recruit POWs to fight for the Germans against Russia during the war. John was executed for treason in 1945.
This picture was taken during his visit to Australia, 1927-1928.
