Description:The idea of advertising your business by painting on the wall has largely gone out of fasion due to modern alternatives in design. Here we see two surviving examples from different eras on the side of one shop in Ladypool Road. The left hand older one has partially survived as it lay underneath a modern sign on top of rendered bricks. The exposed brickwork when the sign was removed left this tantalising glimpse of the past. The new advert to the right is stencilled and is for Excel Cars of Balsall Heath. They are still trading today although with a different phone number. Picture taken by pupils from Anderton Park Primary School as part of a project looking at how Ladypool Road has changed over the last 100 years.
