Description:This cutting is taken from the Sunday Mercury and concerns the sad death of Ladywood Soprano, Alfred Toy. The article reads:
The funeral of Master Alfred Toy, who lived at 48 Monument Road, and who was killed by lightning during the weekend, took place on Thursday. Master Toy, who was only in his teens, possessed a soprano voice of undoubted charm.
The "Boy Soprano", as Toy was popularly known, appeared at pratically every important concert held in Birmingham and the Midlands in the last year or so, and received a flattering reception from both the public and the Press. For one so young the certificates of honour and the prizes he held almost constituted a record.
