Description:Alfred is pictured here with his wife Mabel relaxing while on leave from the front. Knight was awarded the Victoria Cross for his series of gallant actions at Ypres on the 19th to 20th September. Knight was born in Friston Street, Ladywood in 1888. He travelled with his work away from Birmingham but returned there in later life. He died at his house in Elvetham Road, Edgbaston on 4th December 1960. The picture was donated by Knight's grand-daughter Anne Walsh.
