Date:23rd of March 1887

Description:Queen Victoria visited the day before her birthday to lay the foundation stone of Victoria Law Courts. This image shows the crowds gathered to see her on the bunting-lined Colmore Row. To the left the police stand guard outside the Council House. To the right is the cortege of carriages used to convey the Queen and dignitaries from Small Heath station where she arrived. Why she didn't arrive at a central station is unknown.
