Date:23rd of March 1887

Description:On 23rd March 1887 Queen Victoria visited Birmingham to lay the foundation stone for the Victoria Law Courts on Corporation Street. This was in fact the day before her birthday and was her golden jubilee year on the throne. As part of her visit she spent a significant amount of time at the Town Hall and the Council House - both of which are located in Ladywood. This image of the Queen was widely circulated and used in newspapers and books.
