Description:This view of Elvetham Road is from the junction with Pakenham Road looking up the hill. The church at the top right is St James's Church which is situated at the corner of Elvetham and St James's Road. The church has since closed and was converted into luxury flats. Elvetham Road used to run across Lee Bank Road and on towards Great Colmore Street but the end of the road on the other side of Lee Bank Road was demolished when they built the four Middleway blocks. The name "Elvetham" comes from the Gough/ Calthorpe estate in Hampshire. Much of the Edgbaston area was owned by this family.
