Description:This article from the Evening Mail reads as follows: This Messerschmitt arrived in Birmingham today for exhibition at the Civic Centre to stimulate interest in the Lord Mayor's Spitfire Fund. The plane, which recently came down in a Sussex village, is being displayed on the colonnade of the Birmingham Hall of Memory until the end of September. Even while it remained on the lorry which brought it from the South, with its wings lashed along the sides of the fuselage, the enemy plane aroused considerable interest, so that it is properly assembled the Lord Mayor's Spitfire fund should benefit considerably. While it is on view in Birmingham the Messerschmitt will be guarded by men of "C" Company, 10th battalion of the Home Guard, under Commander Sheridan.
