Date:22nd of April 1929

Description:The film "Speedy" starring the legendary "silent" comic Harold Lloyd came out in 1928. The plot according to the excellent www.imdb.com site goes like this..."Speedy" loses his job as a soda-jerk, then spends the day with his girl at Coney Island. He then becomes a cab driver and delivers Babe Ruth to Yankee Stadium, where he stays to see the game. When the railroad tries to run the last horse-drawn trolley (operated by his girl's grandfather) out of business, "Speedy" organizes the neighborhood oldtimers to thwart their scheme.

The top of the playbill has a blue label for the Scala. The idea was that the playbill was sent to many cinemas and each one could then add their own details to the top.

The Scala was located not far from where the Odeon Queensway was located down on Smallbrook Street. The Odeon Queensway is still technically there today on the corner of the Queensway, though it has been closed for many years.
