Description:The original gasometer at the Soho Foundry, Handsworth. It was constructed in about 1799, although the photographer claimed that the date of 1798 in the caption on the image was unlikely and suggested c.1820. The caption also mentions that the gasometer subsequently came into the possession of W. & T. Avery Ltd. 1903
