Description:A sketch of the Wellington Road area of Edgbaston in 1837, by the Birmingham artist Samuel Lines. Isolated houses are already to be seen in 1837 but the rural surroundings are by no means easy to identify. Lines (1778-1863) was a drawing-master and co-founder of the Birmingham Society of Artists.
