Date:1875 - 1981 (c.)
Description:Osler Street School in Ladywood was opened first as a boys' school on 15 November 1875. The girls' school followed in 1886, and the Junior and Infants' School in 1908. Much later, in 1962, the Follett Osler Secondary School opened. In its heyday the school had places for over a thousand pupils. Closure came in 1972, and after briefly reopening in 1978 as an annexe to the new Ladywood Secondary School the building was demolished early in 1981. Abraham Follett Osler, after whom the school and street were named, was a local industrialist who had a glass factory in Freeth Street.
