Description:Tramlines are being taken up in this photograph of Bristol Street, although the exact date is unknown. The last tram on the Bristol Road routes ran on Saturday 5th July 1952, but it may well have been some time before the rails were removed. Routes 36 (to Cotteridge), 70 (to Rednal) and 71 (to Rubery) would have used Bristol Street, with the terminus in Navigation Street. The work is apparently being done by Cox & Danks Ltd, demolition contractors from Oldbury. The view is looking towards the east side of Bristol Street, and the building on the right would appear to be the Old Meeting Church. The tall gabled building further back is the Central Synagogue.
