Description:This advertisement for the ladies' outfitters who simply called themselves Myers dates from 1935. Contemporary directories refer rather oddly to the proprietor as 'Myer Myers' but in the 1950s she is listed as Mrs Betsy Myers. The shop at 131 Sherlock Street, on the outskirts of Lee Bank, lasted into the very early 1960s. 'Interested attention and customers' personal individuality studied' seems now to have a whiff of the obsequious about it but presumably it simply means the personal service that we miss in our self-service world today. Apparently full sizes were catered for although you would not think it from the look of the skinny mannequin on the left.
