Description:The Rev. Rolf Gledhill, Vicar of St Germain's, Edgbaston, photographed in his study in September 1942. He was vicar of St Germain's, in City Road, from 1939 to 1945 through the war years, and had previously been the vicar of St Clement's, Nechells. His study in the vicarage at 180 Portland Road is a splendid period piece with its tiled fireplace, pelmeted curtains and the big armchair that seems to be swallowing the Rev. Gledhill. Is that little round object on the wall to the right of the fire surround a bellpush for summoning the domestic staff?
