Description:This Agreement made on the third day of March one thousand eight hundred and ninety one between the Reverend Frank Scott Webster MA, John Walford Lea and Edward King Mason on behalf of the managers of Saint Thomas’ Parish Schools hereinafter called “The Managers” of the first part and Harry Robert Birch, hereinafter called “The Teacher” of the second part. Witnesseth that the managers agree to engage the said teacher as from and after the Ninth day of February one thousand eight hundred and ninety one to be the Head Teacher of Saint Thomas Parish Boys School and the said Teacher agrees to accept such appointment subject to the following conditions:

1. The said Teacher shall attend at the said School, regularly and punctually every time that the said school is open and shall superintend conduct and reach the said school in strict accordance with the requirements of the Code published by the Education Department of Her Majesty’s Government and the Regulations made from time to time

2. The said Teacher shall give in such manner as may be laid down by the said code, regular daily instruction to the Pupil Teachers, who shall be engaged in the said School such instruction to comprise all the subjects necessary to enable the Pupil Teachers and Candidate Pupil Teachers to pass the examinations conducted by Her Majesty’s Inspector and shall also, if called upon to do so, give assistance to the Assistant teachers in the subjects included in that syllabus for the examination for certificates

3. The said Teacher shall regularly and carefully keep all such Registers and Books Of Account as may be required by the Elementary Education Acts by the Education Department, by the Auditor appointed by the Local Government Board and by the Managers, and shall...
