Description:The Freeth Arms on the corner of Freeth Street and Icknield Port Road, Ladywood. The Freeth Arms was evidently an Atkinson's pub. Freeth Street was named after poet John Freeth, who wrote a song to celebrate the opening of the nearby Birmingham and Wolverhampton Canal in 1769. Also in the picture is a zebra crossing with Belisha beacons, which has become something of a vanishing sight since this photograph was taken on 28 October 1965.
