Description:The International Convention Centre, Birmingham, seen here at dusk. The ICC was intended to attract business, both national and international, to the city and was erected on land on the north side of Broad Street immediately next to the Repertory Theatre. Included among the range of venues is Symphony Hall, which provides a new home for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. The design team for the building was appointed in March 1984, and it was opened by the Queen on 12 June 1991. The architects were the Convention Centre Partnership, and the structural engineers Ove Arup & Partners.
