Date:11th of October 1960

Description:201 Bristol Street, Lee Bank, photographed on 11 October 1960. Number 201, in the centre, belonged to S. Cole & Co., wine and spirit merchants. To the left, apparently offering personal services, is Birmingham Wares Ltd, house furnishers, while to the right of Cole's is the Marina Coffee Bar and Arden Stores, who are listed as food specialists. All these shops would have been on the west side of Bristol Street, about halfway between Holloway Circus and Lee Bank Middleway in modern terms, and would have been swept away in the 1960s redevelopment of the area.
