Description:Postcard showing one of the exhibits from the Beale Memorial Collection in the Natural History Department of the Museum and Art Gallery, Birmingham. These Tawny owls were among numerous stuffed animals and birds, shown in representations of their natural settings, although the number of owls seen together here seems vaguely unrealistic. Attitudes to stuffed creatures and museum display have changed since the early 1900s when this card was presumably published, and the educational value of this card has been further compromised by the change of the Latin name of the Tawny owl: he is now Strix aluco.
