Description:The City Museum and Art Gallery, Birmingham, in a postcard view that must date from after 1912 because the extension and its connecting bridge have been built. At 11.15 a.m., according to 'Big Brum', Chamberlain Square appears to be a traffic-free zone so perhaps this photograph was taken on a Sunday. In the background is F.J. Williamson's statue of George Dawson beneath a Gothic canopy designed by J.H. Chamberlain, while in the foreground is the same sculptor's statue of philanthropist John Skirrow Wright which had formerly stood in Victoria Square. Just visible on the left is the Chamberlain Memorial of 1880 that is still there today.
