Description:Nos.7 and 9, Duchess Road, Edgbaston. A splendid pair of Victorian villas, not far from Five Ways. The Duchess in question was the Duchess of Beaufort, there being a connection by marriage with the Calthorpe family who owned the land. In 1908 the author J.R.R. Tolkien moved into No.37 Duchess Road.
