Description:Alfred Bird manufactured and sold custard and baking powder from his chemist's shop beneath the old Market Hall in Bell Street, Birmingham. His custard is famous as he replaced the eggs with cornflour because his wife was allergic to eggs. Bird's custard factory is still in the Digbeth area of Birmingham and is used as workshops, shops and bars. The grave shown here is that of Alfred Bird and his wife Elizabeth Lavinia.
