Description:Publicity for the Regent Cinema in Ledsam Street, Ladywood, brings back the joys of 'continuous performance' when you could turn up when you liked and watch the programme through to the point where you came in, when it would all begin to make sense. The Regent Cinema had opened as 'The Ledsam Picture House' in 1914 and lasted until 1959. At what date did it only cost 6d (just over 2 pence in today's money) to sit in the most expensive seats, or 1d for a seat at the special children's matinee? Ladywood Methodist Church stands on the site of the cinema now.
