Description:Redevelopment was well advanced when this photograph was taken in Great Colmore Street, Lee Bank, presumably in the 1960s. Tower blocks and great sweeps of grass have replaced the streets of Victorian terraces, in the manner of modern town planning. Lee Bank was one of five areas identified for major redevelopment after World War II, but work did not begin until 1952. The project was under the control of the then City Architect, A.G. Sheppard Fidler.
