Date:1918

Description:The reason for the huge queue at what appears to be a tobbaconist is unknown. The photograph is provisionally dated at around 1918 so perhaps they are waiting for news from the war. The businesses open are Clarkes' Wine and Spirit Merchants, Mrs Tracey - the Outfitter and Frank Sutton the Plumber. Frank Sutton was born in Bridgnorth and moved to Birmingham with his parents and siblings. The business was originally started Frank's father Henry and after Frank died his son George Bernard took it over. The business was listed in trade directories up till 1974.
