Description:Postcard circa 1908. Duchess Road was named in honour of the Duke Of Beaufort's wife. J.R.R. Tolkien lodged here for a while and met his future wife Edith Bratt. Next door to Tolkien Rosehannah Webb was working as a domestic servant. She later met and married a painter named John Sutton and they are this website's managers great great grandparents!
