Date:24th of January 1958

Description:Advert from The Birmingham Despatch of 24th January 1958. This "Horror" double bill was apparently not for the nervous! Frankenstein came out in 1931 and was directed by James Whale. Horror film legend Boris Karloff played the monster. On a trivia note Dwight Frye played Fritz and he later became the subject of a song by American rock star Alice Cooper who felt Dwight Frye tended to play the scariest roles in the early horror films. Frye also turns up playing the fly-eating Renfield in "Dracula" which was also released in 1931 originally. Bela Lugosi plays the Count and the director was Tod Browning.

The Bristol later became the ABC and this is already evident in the logo at the bottom right of the advert.
