Date:8th of December 1901

Description:This letter to the parishioners of St Asaph's Church, Great Colmore Street, announces that a Thanksgiving Service is to be held on 8th December 1901. The date is the 33rd anniversary of the consecration of the church in 1868, but it is clear from the letter that the purpose of the service is to raise money for the repair of the building. The historical notes mention the generosity of landowner Mr Cregoe Colmore and local benefactor George Dixon, as well as the part played by the Rev. G.S. Bull, rector of St Thomas's. The vicar in 1901, who is writing from the vicarage at 51 Bristol Street, was the Rev. A.J. Binnie, M.A.
