Description:Advert printed in the Birmingham Evening Mail. Every year Lewis's Department Store in Birmingham City Centre would welcome Father Christmas. His arrival at the Grotto was preceded by a tour across Birmingham. Starting at the Mitchell and Butler's Sports Ground at 6pm he would arrive at the store in the Minories at about 7pm. the route taken by Father Christmas includes many streets in Lee Bank and Ladywood.

Welcoming Father Christmas was Frankie Holmes. Frankie was a TV regular of the time with a popular comedy and magic routine. He appeared on the children's TV show "Little Big Time" amongst others.
