Description:R. Wright's stood on the corner of these two roads. He was also a jeweller and clothier. The urban renewal of the area demolished all of Upper Ryland Road and the St Thomas Centre now occupies the site in this photograph. If looking at the centre from Bell Barn Road you would be looking at the extreme left hand side of the grounds.

The picture was taken by E.P. Woolgar of Finch Road in Handsworth for the Engineers Department.
