Description:The Leveretts, Camp Lane, Handsworth. The photograph shows the Leveretts at the time it was employed by the Birmingham Corporation as a centre for treating psychiatric disorders. The land had been known as the Leveretts since around 1538 when it was the property of John Lane. For a long time, in the 19th Century, it stayed in the hands of the Dawes family. Its grounds were incorporated into Handsworth Cemetery shortly after the photograph was taken.
