Date:1962
Description:Gwen Hatton and her family moved from 142 Edward Street (near Spring Hill Library) to Faraday House in 1962. Faraday was one of the four blocks erected on the Lee Bank estate at the top end of the Middleway near to Five Ways. This picture was taken the day Gwen moved in, she is standing on the balcony of her new flat. They were amongst the first people to move in to Faraday House, which incidentally is named after Michael Faraday - the English chemist and physicist. In the background are some of the now demolished houses of Lee Bank Road before it was recreated as the Middleway.
