Description:Austin House, Copthall Road, Handsworth. It is unclear if this building is part of the original house that was demolished in 1930. Close examination of Ordnance Survey Maps of different editions puts this building exactly on the centre of the house once owned by the Whateley/Piddock family. The Austins Estate was built around 1930 when a Mr E. J. Smith bought the land fronting onto Sandwell Road, Oxhill Road and Camp Lane.
